April 1st Meeting – Membership Brainstorm (No Joke!)
1st April 2026
Details:
Our 1 April meeting will be a little different. Instead of a traditional presentation, we’ll be putting our heads together for a membership brainstorming session focused on one goal: growing the Narellan Chapter.
We’ll be working as a group to generate ideas, strategies, and actions to help attract new members, strengthen our network, and continue building a vibrant local business community.
And yes… we realise the meeting is on April Fools’ Day — but the brainstorming isn’t a prank! The ideas, strategies, and actions we come up with will be very real and aimed at helping our chapter grow stronger through 2026 and beyond.
Bring your ideas, creativity, and energy. The more ideas we generate, the more opportunities we create for everyone in the room.
Meeting Agenda
6:50 am – Arrive and networking
7:00 am – 60 second business introductions
7:30 am – Raps, Referrals & General Business (20 minutes)
7:55 am – Membership Brainstorming Session begins
8:25 am – Wrap up discussion
8:30 am – Close of meeting
If you have ever thought “we should try this to get more members” — this is your chance to share it!
By the end of the session we want:
• A list of ideas
• The best 3 to 5 ideas selected
• Someone responsible for progressing each idea
Today we’re doing something a little different. The goal is simple:
How do we grow the Narellan Chapter with great members?
Over the next 30 minutes we’ll generate ideas, vote on the best ones, and leave with actions we can actually implement.
Rules:
• No idea is a bad idea
• No long discussions yet
• Short ideas only
• Focus on getting new members
What is ONE thing we could do to attract new members?
Examples people might say:
• Bring a guest challenge
• Referral reward
• LinkedIn outreach
• Local business event
• Invite specific industries
• Host an open networking event
• Partner with chambers
• Run a themed breakfast
• Social media promotion
• Guest speaker events
Write ideas on Google Doc, then turn into a Google form for voting. Multiple votes allowed
For each top idea ask:
What would this actually look like?
Who will lead it?
What is the first step?
Example:
Idea: Bring a Guest Month
Action:
• Each member invites one guest
• Dedicated meeting for guests
• Follow up system
Leader:
John
First step:
Create invite message and target list.
1. Bring a Guest Month
Set a challenge where every member brings one guest during a specific month.
Tip
Offer a small prize for the member who brings the most guests.
2. Industry Gap Targeting
Identify industries missing from the chapter and target them.
Examples
• Accountant
• Mortgage broker
• Insurance broker
• Electrician
• Builder
• Conveyancer
Members then reach out to businesses in those categories.
3. Host a Special Guest Speaker Event
Run a bigger meeting with a well known local speaker and invite guests.
Example
Local business owner
Local mayor
Successful entrepreneur
These events attract non members.
4. Member Invite Challenge
Run a 30 day invite challenge.
Each member must invite 3 businesses.
Track it publicly.
5. LinkedIn Outreach Campaign
Members connect with local business owners on LinkedIn.
Message example:
Hi [Name]
I’m part of a local business networking group in Narellan. We meet weekly and often have guests visit. If you’re interested in expanding your local network you’re welcome to come along.
6. Guest Friendly Meetings
Make certain meetings guest focused.

• Short presentations
• High energy networking
• Structured introductions

10. Business Education Sessions
Promote training sessions.
Examples

Education attracts business owners.

Personal invitations work much better than emails.
12. Partner with Other Groups

Cross promotion grows audiences.
13. Bring Back Former Members

They already know the group.
14. Industry Spotlights

15. Member Video Testimonials

Members who give referrals get recognition.
This builds energy in the group.

• Charity events
• Markets
• Business expos
This raises visibility.
18. Local Facebook Groups
Post invitations in:

Example process
Thank you message
Invite them back

20. Ask Members Directly
Sometimes the simplest tactic works best.
Ask members:
Who do you know that would benefit from this group?
Warm introductions are the most effective recruitment method.
The 5 Most Powerful (Focus on These)
If you only implement five, choose these:
Bring a Guest Month
Industry Gap Targeting
